About the festival:
Dear Festival Attendee,
Thank you for your support of this exciting new event coming to the St. Lawrence Region this October called the St Lawrence International Film Festival.
Over four days, this first of a kind event will include over 25 films, 7 panels and 8 special screenings on both sides of the US/Canada border in Ottawa, Brockville, Canton and Potsdam. No film festival in the world can claim such an international footprint. Additionally, our partnerships with the Canadian Film Institute and four of the major universities in the region promise an unparalleled weekend experience for film fans of all stripes.
For our inaugural year, we claim the bold theme "Beyond Borders" as our mantra. Film has a way of transcending what separates us from one another. It taps our emotions, regardless of nationality, race, language or belief. Film unites us all.
In that spirit, we’re proud our Opening Gala on October 22nd will benefit the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Foundation, an inspiring Canadian community support organization, which for over 20 years has helped to build better futures for Canada’s at-risk youth. Held at Ottawa’s spectacular Canadian Museum of History, the Gala will feature Guest of Honor Dan Aykroyd presenting a 35th Anniversary screening of “The Blues Brothers” with a red-carpet arrival, a conversation on his career and live performance with the Downchild Blues Band during a post screening cocktail reception featuring Aykroyd’s own Crystal Head brand vodka.
The 1st Annual St. Lawrence International Film Festival will take place October 22-25. For further information on the 2015 St. Lawrence International Film Festival, please visit www.stlawrencefilm.com.
